Biebelried Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, between two grain ears Argent in fan a facetted Maltese cross of the same, embowed base Azure charged with four pales Argent.
Meaning:
The Maltese cross is alluding to the Order of St. John, which owned estates in all former villages Biebelried proper, Kaltensondheim und Westheim, which merged in 1978. Hermann of Lobdeburg, Bishop of Würzburg (1225 - 1254) sold his properties to the order, which established a commandery in Biebelried, which existed until 1806. Inbetween the order became also the local ruler. The grain ears are taken from the arms of Westheim, which had been based on a local seal from 1638. They also stress the rural character of the village. The base is taken from the arms of the Lords of Seinsheim-Schwarzenberg, local rulers of Kaltensondheim.
