Küps Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Azure three bars Argent, over all a bend wavy Gules, at sinister Azure a tower Argent with roof Gules.
Meaning:Küps was first mentioned in 1151 and had been a possession of the Barons of Redwitz, who made Küps their capital and seat of a court of justice. They also had the right of patronage and they ruled the town until the beginning of the 19th century. The dexter half displays their family arms. The barons built five castles in the town. Three of them are still existing. The barons also built a fortified church and a weir system. The tower in the sinister half is representing the Eisturm (= ice tower), being part of that system and nowadays a landmark in the town.
