Meaning:
On 1 December 1973 the municipalities of Buchheim, Holzhausen, Hugstetten and Neuershausen merged. The name of the new municipality was derived from the Buchheim Marsh, in local language called March. Lorsch Abbey and Sankt Gallen Abbey owned numerous estates in all former municipalities. The cross is taken from the arms of Lorsch Abbey, the bear from those of Sankt Gallen Abbey.
