Dingolfing Coat of Arms

Shield lozengy of Argent and Azure, chief Gules charged with three 6-point stars Or in fess.
Meaning:
Dingolfing was finally acquired by Bayern in 1251 and gained city rights in 1274. The first seal is known by prints since 1290 and was shaped like a shield, which displayed the current pattern with two stars in chief. The third star was added in the 2nd seal from the middle of the 14th century. The pattern since then never changed. The lozenges display the arms of Bayern. The stars are local symbols. They sometimes had been mismatched as attributes of St. Mary. The first coloured painting was published in 1523. Really nice examples of the arms were depicted in two armorials (Fuggers Ehrenspiegel 1955) and (Wappenbuch der Landschaft around 1592). Angel´s heads as a Baroque ornament were added temporarily. Dingolfing is the seat of Dingolfing-Landau County.

The colours of the banner and the arms are traditional.
