It is a blue-yellow-blue horizontal triband with ratio of stripes approx. 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the yellow stripe.

Elsteraue Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, hammer and mallet Or in saltire under five grain ears Or in fan, in orle ten 7-point stars Or.
Meaning:
Hammer and mallet are symbolising brown coal mining and the grain ears probably agriculture. The ten stars in orle are representing the ten villages forming the municipality.
