The arms are "Gules a chevron or charged with a fleur-de-lis azure in
chief dexter three wheat stalks and an axe in saltire all or sinister a
Latin cross of the same in base argent a tree eradicated vert on two fesses
wavy azure. The shield surmounted by four maple leaves vert. Beneath the
shield a scroll argent inscribed the motto 'FIDČLE Ŕ SON DEVOIR' in letters
sable surrounded by 14 clovers vert."
Gules is a symbol of courage, audacity and patriotism. The Latin cross recalls moral values and the ancestors' faith, which is repeated by the axes used before sowing grain, the symbol of flourishing agriculture.
Or is a symbol of prosperity, wisdom, joy of living. The chevron is a symbol of the highest ideal transmitted through generations. The chevron also recalls the common willingness of the inhabitants of the two banks to unite under the shadow of the same bell spire. The fleur-de-lis recalls loyalty to the French roots.
The green broad-leaved tree impersonates the ancestors established and well rooted since the beginnings, moving upstream along river Batiscan and its tributary, river Pierre-Paul, represented by the blue waves in the shield's base. This so big tree reiterates the importance of timber extraction, drive and construction for the population. The protection of environment, forests and rivers remains a good investment, symbolized by argent, and an heritage to be transmitted to future generations.
The maple leaves highlight the good products of the local sugar bushes. The four leaf represent the four main compass directions, symbolizing the inhabitants that headed to new horizons.
The 14 clovers represents the 14 ranks (original administrative divisions) and agriculture.
The French motto reads "Loyal to One's Duty".
