Municipality

The municipality of Travesseiro (2,314 inhabitants in 2010; 8,111 ha) is located 120 km of Porto Alegre.
The municipality was established by State Law No. 9,596 promulgated on 20 March 1992, separating from Arroio de Meio, and inaugurated on 1 June 1993.

Symbol

Divided per bend, blue over green, the municipal arms placed on top toward the hoist, and ten white stars toward the fly, nine in  he remaining blue field and one larger one in the remaining green field.

The flag of Travesseiro is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 56 promulgated on 19 November 1993.

Article 1.
The flag of the municipality of Travesseiro is formed of two fields with the national colors arranged in triangles, charged with the coat of arms.
The upper field, blue, represents the blue of the sky and the purity of water. The nine white stars represent the communities part of the municipality: Linha São Miguel, Cairu, Felipe Essig, Vinagre Alta, Três Saltos Alto, Três Salto Médio, Três Saltos Baixo, São João and Barra do Fão.
The lower field (green) symbolizes plant resources and people's aspiration to municipality's progress. The white star represents Travesseiro's municipal seat.

The coat of arms of Travesseiro is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 55 promulgated on 19 November 1993.

Article 1.
A classical Portuguese shield, divided in three parts by a "T", the initial of "Travesseiro". In the first part, on top, a landscape characteristic of Travesseiro with a green plain surrounded by mountains also green, crossed by brook Travesseiro, lit by the sun indicating a way of hope and development. In the second part, in dexter base, on a golden background, are featured two wheat spikes, a maize cob and soybeans pods, representing cultivation and extraction of the soil resources through agriculture. In the third part, in sinister base, on a golden background, two cogwheels forming a gear, symbolizing the integration of industry, commerce and agriculture for the municipality's progress and development. Beneath the shield a red scroll charged with the municipality's name and date of creation.
