The municipal website includes a comprehensive description of the flag and arms.

The flag of Ribeirão das Neves is white with the municipal coat of arms in the middle. The coat of arms represents the municipal government and its power all over the municipal territory. The composition of the flag is a symbol of eternity, white representing peace, friendship, work, prosperity, purity and religious feeling.

The coat of arms of Ribeirão das Neves is made of a shield of Flemish-Iberio Portuguese shape, used in modern Brazilian heraldry as a tribute to the early Portuguese colonists, surmounted by a white five-towered mural crown, flanked by two Macaúba palms (Acrocomia
aculeata
(Jacq.) Lodd. ex Mart.), and surmounting a white scroll charged with the blue writing "12-12 RIBEIRÃO DAS NEVES 1953". The field of the shield is azure, symbolizing justice, nobleness, perseverance, zeal and loyalty. In the point of the shield, a white factory represents an industrial complex and the industrialization of the municipality. The sun placed between the two chimneys of the factory represents the beauty and the potential of the municipality. Two wavy stripes argent symbolizes the rivers watering the municipality. The chief or symbolizes the wealth expected for the future. It is charged with a triangle gules representing the State of Minas Gerais.
