About the district

The District of Lobería (18,243 inhabitants in 2022) is located in southern Buenos Aires Province, on the Atlantic coast.

The district was named after its capital city. The city's name comes from the letter that Juan de Garay sent to the King of Spain in 1582, conveying his amazement at the existence of large herds of sea lions (lobos marinos) in the region of present-day Cape Corrientes.

Description of the flag

From https://www.infocielo.com/sociedad/loberia-eligio-la-bandera-que-representa-al-distrito-como-es-y-que-significa-n794021 (01.10.2024):

Lobería has joined the list of municipalities in the province of Buenos Aires that have opened a call for submissions for an official flag to represent the district, and the residents have already chosen. It's called "Harmony," a design that won with 1,273 votes from the community.

According to the Municipality of Lobería, the winning flag "was created and submitted to the competition by students Sara Lauga Eder, Juanita Negretti, and Angelina Díaz Lance from the Justa Silvia Mayora School ." Throughout the week, 3,994 people visited various local institutions to vote among the five finalist options and choose the official flag. A total of 25 flags competed, but the finalists were selected by the jury based on their characteristics and standards of symbolism, simplicity, ease of reproduction, reproduction cost, and visibility.

Light blue, blue, green, and brown are the predominant colors in the winning flag. It features elements characteristic of the region, such as: Churrinche, Curro, Sun, Sowing, Mountain ranges, Surf.
