image located by Valentin Poposki, 14 March 2026The District of Junín (103,787 inhabitants in 2022) is in northwest Buenos Aires Province,
260 km west of Buenos Aires City.
In 1829, an uprising was suppressed at the Battle of Las Palmitas by Colonel Isidoro Suárez, who also played a prominent role in the Battle of Junín, which paved the way for Peru's complete independence. The provincial government, wishing to perpetuate the memory of both events under such a distinguished leader, renamed Fort Federación as Fort
Junín.
Municipality (Partido) of Junín in the Province of Buenos Aires is on the way to adopt its own official flag.

Junín is one step closer to having its own flag. The initiative, presented by graphic designer Walter Brunini, was submitted to the City Council last week and proposes a banner that symbolizes the values and identity of the people of Junín.https://laverdadonline.com/proponen-la-creacion-de-una-bandera-oficial-para-junin (28.09.2024):
Brunini explained in his proposal that the flag aims to be a symbol of unity among the residents of the district: "We want a flag that reminds us who we are and what unites us, even though each of us may have our own vision of what our hometown represents. It is a tool of fraternity, a reminder that we are part of a community that we must defend and help to thrive."
The author emphasized that this flag will be a constant symbol of commitment to the city and its values.
Brunini's proposal is not limited to a mere symbol. It is hoped that the new pavilion will be used in official events, representing the institutional character of Junín, and that it will accompany social, political, sporting, and educational delegations to different parts of the world.
The design of the Junín flag, created by Walter Brunini, is inspired by the region's natural characteristics and the opportunities the land offers for the future, if we all work together toward a common goal. The symbolic concept it embodies, as its supreme value, is sowing the future, sowing hope.
The sun, composed of seeds as rays representing the towns that make up the district surrounding the main city, is depicted in the position of dawn, representing the magnificence and natural beauty of our region and the hope of each new day.
