iLembe is one of eleven district municipalities in 
KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa.  iLembe 
(formerly known as King Shaka District) is located in central KwaZulu-Natal 
bordering on 
the Indian Ocean north of Durban.  It contains 
the local municipalities of KwaDukuza, Ndwedwe, Mandeni and Maphumulo. The 
district headquarters are situated in KwaDukuza.

The flag of iLembe has a white field with the district emblem, showing a representation of King Shaka, in the centre. The name of the municipality is found in an arch in English above, and in Zulu below, the emblem.
Shaka kaSenzangakhona (1787 – 1828), also known as Shaka Zulu and Sigidi 
kaSenzangakhona, was the founder of the Zulu Kingdom from 1816 to 1828.
