The normal protocol is to fly the national flag at the gaff, and the house 
flag at the mainmast truck. Here is a photo of the Preussen:

Here is another photo:

5-masted barques anchored in Valparaiso. (It is incorrectly captioned as being 
the Preussen.) The Chilean flag is just visible on the foremast, as Joe 
described. She also seems to have a second German flag on the mizzen mast, and 
another, unidentified flag on the jigger mast.
