A quartered flag with red borders between quarters. In the upper hoist, the shield of Massachusetts surrounded by a ring of 12 white stars and four corner stars, and in the lower fly a broad white cross on blue, with the date 1639, a D with an arrow through it, and a small black cannon.  The upper fly and lower hoist are white. Rowley is in Essex County.
