Horizontally divided white-yellow-white, but with the upper white stripe divided vertically 3:1 white and yellow. Centered is a snow-capped mountain peak above two partly offset blue bars.
The Fremont County Flag was designed at the same time the Fremont County
Courthouse was being built, in the early 1960s. It was designed by Janet Poole
(now Janet Nelson), a Cañon City resident. Janet designed the flag while still
in high school, as part of a contest. The flag represents the mild climate and
attractive scenery of the County. The broad yellow stripe represents sunshine
and hospitality. The brown mountain peak represents the mountains, and the blue
stripes represent the streams that flow down from the mountains.

For her design, Janet received a $100 bond. The flag was unveiled on November
12, 1962 for the opening of the new county courthouse, with about 250 attendees
in total. The flag flies at the county courthouse to this day.
