The city held a flag contest in January 2021. A poll was held, and the winning flag was announced in March 2021. The flag was designed by Ms. Bailey Scott, a native of Oneonta. This is the city's first flag. The flag shown flying in the town's Facebook page has its colors reversed from the flag that won the contest.
