Shield Gules two flails Argent in saltire, in chief a palm frond Or, in base two hoe blades Or in fess. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "SANDE - VILA VERDE".
Meaning:
The palm frond is a symbol for martyrs, here probably refering to St. Eulalia, the local patron saint.

Shield Or on a fess Purple a pitch fork Or, in chief three maize ears Or leafed Vert in pale and arrayed per fess, in base a grape bunch Purple leafed Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILARINHO - VILA VERDE".
Meaning:
The word "vilarinho" is an hypochoristic of "vilar", meaning roughly "settlement", usually a village without its own church.
The pitch fork is however blazoned as a trident ("tridente" instead of "forquilha"). This is unexpected, as tridents are usually a heraldic stand-in for harpoons and this commune has a lot more of haygathering going around than big game fishing.

Meaning:
The brooms (Latin: Genista monspessulana) probably refer to local flora.
