The coat of arms is argent on a fess sable three ears of wheat, in dexter chief a “templar” cross, in sinister chief a Christ Knight’s Order cross, in base a wavy fess azure. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE FERREIRA DO ZÊZERE".
Meaning:
"Ferreira" relates to a blacksmith or to his shop (not refered on the coat of arms), "do" means "of the", and "Zêzere" is the name of a river (largest tributary of the Tagus on portuguese territory), depicted on the coat of arms by a wavy fess. The other charges refer to the local importance of wheat and to the Orders Templar and of Christ’s Knights.
