It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Argent, a horse passant Purpure between a rice ear and an oak branch, both Vert crossed per saltire, in chief a Latin cross fleury Vert. Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "FREGUESIA DE BENAVENTE".
Meaning:
The cross fleury is representing the Order of Avis. The horse is representing horse breading in the commune. Rice and oak are representing agriculture as main business line.

Benavente Commune is one of the four communes of the Benavente municipality (q.v.); it had 9174 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 130.4 km².
