Several cities submit host bids for any given event and usually those bids are accompanied by a visual representation of the candidate city(ies). For the 2000 Games, the candidate cities were:

  • Beijing
  • Berlin
  • Brasilia (withdrawn)
  • Istanbul
  • Manchester
  • Milan (withdrawn)
  • Sydney
  • Tashkent (withdrawn)

An "Official Olympic Manchester Bid Flag. Red White & Blue logo." was posted on https://www.ebay.com (image at https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/qZMAAOSwq1NZh0pN/s-l1600.jpg).

It would be a 1:2 blue field, with in the hoist Manchester's flames logo. In the fly gold Olympic Rings over the lines "Manchester" and "2000" in a white bold sans serif allcaps font.
