Indre Østfold Municipality was created on 1 January 2020 by the merger of five municipalities: Askim Municipality, Eidsberg Municipality, Hobøl Municipality, Spydeberg Municipality and Trøgstad Municipality.

Blazon: På blå bunn tre sølv skråbjelker dannet ved bølgesnitt.
In English: Azure three bends wavy argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 1 November 1963 after a drawing by Trygve Rognerud. [c2j87]
The design represents the three waterfalls in the Glomma river, today harnessed for the hydro-power: Solbergfoss, Kykkelsrudfoss and Vammafoss.
