Three horizontal stripes, red-blue-light blue and its coat of arms is placed on
it in the center of the flag. The stripes symbolize the three services, army,
navy and air force. The coat of arms is a baroque shield with three horizontal
stripes, and symbols of services are placed on each stripe.

The ranks and insignia of the Armed Forces are based on those of the United
States, and are laid out in the Liberian Defense Act of 2008. The highest rank
could be Lieutenant General, but currently the Chief of Staff is a Major
General.
The rank flags are red with white stars arranged horizontally.

Note: the same flag appears as
presidential flag
in Flaggenbuch (1939-1941)
[neu92].
Ivan Sache, 01 Jun 1999
The flag once used as presidential apparently
remained in use as the “military authorities”’ flag, after
the distinctive presidential flag was introduced.
What exactly were (are) those authorities, and how this flag was used (ensign,
signal flag, rank flag?), it is not clear to me. As for other flags, I question
if the flag is used currently.

Encyclopaedia Universalis Yearbook 1998 says:
Officially, all armed forces were disbanded in February 1997. The 10 000 members of the ECOMOG peace-keeping force shall withdraw in February 1998.Ivan Sache, 10 May 2002

The Liberian Air Force was formally dissolved in 2005 as part of the armed
forces demobilization program, though it had effectively ceased to exist during
the civil war. After 2003, only the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL)
operated military aircraft in Liberia. The Air Force formally re-established by
Defense Act of 2008.
In 2018-19, two Liberian pilots were trained by the
Nigerian Air Force, and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces visited Ghana to
discuss military cooperation opportunities, including those related to the
re-establishment of an aviation capability.
The Liberian Air Force Ensign
was light blue with national flag in the canton and with aircraft marking at the
fly.

“wings” of red - white - blue - white - red. Obviously, it was
patterned after the US marking, just as the flag was
some century and half earlier. [cos98] claims
that the air units of Liberian army were formed in 1976, and used the
flag as the marking, and that the current pattern was
introduced in 1986.
Željko Heimer, 10 May 2002
Liberian Army Air Reconnaissance Unit was formed in 1976 and, according
to WorldAirForces.com,
got no machines since 1994. This roundel is most probably obsolete.
