The city emblem was adopted on Aug 1st 1961 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a blue city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized katakana コマ Koma of Komagane in a form of a range of peaks of the central Alps. The circle symbolizes the city's peace and a progressing city.
