The new crest for the Rosslare
Municipal District was unveiled at this month's meeting in the Taghmon Action
Group (TAG) Community Centre.
The blue, grey and white crest features four quadrants, each containing an item of symbolic importance to the area. The anchor represents the marine and coastal aspects of the Rosslare District, the Celtic Cross represents Christiantiy and Pilgrimage, the Pikes represent the 1798 Rebellion, the Norman Castle/Tower House represents the District's Norman Heritage, while the Tuskar in the centre is intended to shine a light over the District.
Underneath the crest are the words Vor a Gooude o'aul, which is Yola for 'For
the Good of All'. Yola is an ancient language also known as the Forth and Bargy
Dialect.
