Montmartin-sur-Mer (1,413 inhabitants, 981 ha) is a commune in the Manche department.

As its name suggests, the village is located on a hill. For several centuries, an annual fair, known as the "Saint-Martin" fair, was held there, attracting merchants to the town. Its origins, initiated by Lessay Abbey, date back to the 13th century. It is said to have been mentioned as early as the reign of William the Conqueror. At the end of the 18th century, Montmartin (694 inhabitants in 1793) absorbed Hauteville-sur-Mer (452 inhabitants). The latter regained its independence in 1836.
