The flag of La Parra de las Vegas is prescribed by an Order issued on 10
September 2001 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on
25 September 2001 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No.
103, p. 11,198 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Vertically divided 2:1:1, from hoist ot fly, blue, green and yellow. The proportions shall be 2:3, that is one and a half longer than wide.
The coat of arms of La Parra de las Vegas is prescribed by an Order
issued on 10 September 2001 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and
published on 25 September 2001 in the official gazette of Castilla-La
Mancha, No. 103, pp. 11,198-11,199 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:
Coat of arms: Or a grapevine (parra) proper fructed purpure on a valley (vega) proper over waves azure and argent. The shield surmounted by a Spanish Royal crown.
The Royal Academy of History found the arms "fully acceptable". Minor
corrections in the description and deeper modifications of the design,
which does not match the description as far as the waves are concerned
and is little compliant with the heraldic style, were suggested.
If the grapevine is represented proper, it is not correct to assign a
color to the grapes. The valley has to be represented as usual in
heraldry, that is, a hollow between two rounded mounts. It should rather
be vert than proper, since valleys exist on a huge variety of colors.
In the drawing, the waves argent and azure should fill the lower third
of the shield and run from edge to edge. The thin filet shown on the
drawing absolutely does not belong to the heraldic repertory. Finally,
all the charges should be given more volume to harmoniously fill the
shield, rather than using downsized charges so common in the last's
century bad style. It is a shame that dedicated heraldists ignore the
appropriate graphic models.
The arms should be revised as "Or a grapevine proper in a valley
composed of two green hills over waves. The shield surmounted by a
Spanish Royal crown".
