The flag and arms of Pichincha were adopted on 20 April 1987 by the Canton
Council.
The flag is composed of three colors placed in equal horizontal
stripes: green, yellow and white, with two white stars in the upper left part.
The green stripe symbolizes the immensity of the fields where the flora and
fauna thrive, and the environment of the farmer.
The yellow stripe represents
the resources from agriculture, cattle-breeding, fishing etc., sources of
transcendence that supply life in Pichincha and in the country.
The white
flag represents the way used by the inhabitants, excluding any egotism, to
maintain peace, fraternity and unity, as an example for the new generations.
The two white stars represents the parishes of Barraganete and San Sebastián.
