Shield Or with base wavy Argent, issuant from base three rocks Gules, in chief an impending initial "R" Gules.
Meaning:
The first local seal from the 16th centur, known by a print from 1619, only displays the initial, which was very common for entites alongside the Lower main. According to a roll of arms from 1544 the initial had been red on a white shield. A seal of city and council fom 1710 however displays a castle on a rock, superimposed by the initial. The current pattern developed since 1836.
