On 1 January 2009 the communes of Steg and Hohtenn merged to Steg-Hohtenn.
The new emblem is a combination of both the former emblems. The canting halves were adopted: Steg with the
bridge (German: Steg), Hohtenn with the elevated barn floor (German: hohe Tenne).
