Argent a fortified roofed gatehouse Sable ajouré.

The emblem shows the fortified bridge over the Aare river, which makes it canting (Brugg = bridge in Swiss German). Since the Middle Ages Brugg has been an important river crossing on the road between Zurich and Basel (picture).
