The flag of the City of Brampton is white with city coat of arms on it. The coat of arms description:
"The Brampton City Crest was created in 1974 as the official symbol of the newly incorporated City of Brampton. Its symbols convey the historical roots and strengths of the various towns and townships that were combined to form the City of Brampton. The City Crest is crowned in gold, reminiscent of our British origins and our relationship to Brampton, Cumbria, England. The beaver symbolizes our Canadian heritage and the ethic of hard work. Farming and manufacturing, the area's historical mainstays, are represented in the Crest by the sheaf of grain and the ploughshare. The sheaf also represents the Township of Toronto Gore, one of Brampton's founding communities. The Grand Trunk Railway's role in establishing Brampton as an agricultural, manufacturing and political centre is depicted by the steam engine. The majestic pine tree was selected to represent the Township of Chinguacousy, one of Brampton's founding communities. Chinguacousy (meaning "Land of the Tall Pines") was a term used by the First Nations Peoples to describe the area." As of the 2006 census, Brampton's population stood at 433,806, making it the 11th largest city in Canada. It is also one of Canada's fastest growing municipalities, with an average annual growth rate (2001-2006) of 6.6%. With a median age at 33.7, it is the youngest community in the GTA. Brampton was incorporated as a village in 1853, taking its name from the rural town of Brampton, Cumbria, England.
