The municipal flag of the Village of Waskatenau (population 260) features 
	on a white background a freight train crossing a river, a grain elevator and 
	water tower and a single wild rose (provincial flower). The motto is 
	“Village of Waskatenau, Country Life at Its Best.” 1932 was the year the 
	municipality became incorporated. Waskatenau (pronounced WAS-ET-NA) is a 
	Cree word meaning "opening in the bank".
Village of Waskatenau is 
	located in rural Northeastern Alberta in the County of Smoky Lake.

The grain elevator looks like the actual Waskatenau Elevator, though the real 
thing doesn't look like it's about to plunge into the river. But Darrell's image 
is remarkably close to the village logo, where the elevator has that same 
curious stance. A short version of the motto appears below the emblem on a white 
scroll: Just "Country Life at Its Best." Above the emblem on another white 
scroll it says "Village of Waskatenau, Alberta".
