Devon, Alberta (population: 5,315) is located 26 km SW of
Edmonton along Hwy 60.
Darrell Neuman, 3 July 2006
Devon was founded in 1947 following the discovery of oil at the Imperial Leduc 1 well. Devon is named for the geological formation (Devonian) where the oil was discovered. Devon was incorporated as a village in 1949 and as a town in 1950 and is the first town to be approved by a Regional Planning Commission, earning it the title of Canada's Model Town. In the 1960s it became the first Urban County in Alberta.

According to this post on the city's Facebook page, the present flag was
introduced in 2012.

The flag
can differ slightly because sometimes the text on the logo is shadowed (as in
2012) and sometimes it's not.
