Broken Hill City Council has started using flags again with the official
city council crest adopted in 1967. If I understood correctly, the flag is white
with crest on it.

In September 2011 the Broken Hill City Council adopted a logo, which is based
upon the natural terrain of Broken Hill, in arid semi-desert far south-west New
South Wales.

Further to the "official" Broken Hill City Flag, featuring the City's Crest,
the Council adopted in 1983, for their City's Centenary a logo - see image above and
attached explanation, being a stylised mine head. I have not been able, yet, to
find out if was used as a flag.

I confirm that there was in fact a Broken Hill Centenary Flag, as I have
located in my archives a "hand-waver" size (21.5 cm X 21 cm) paper flag,
together with a letter dated 4 February 1985, sent to me from the then City of
Broken Hill's Mayor, Peter L. Black.
In the letter, Mayor Black said;
"The design of the Centenary flag was that of the Centenary Logo, which was
designed by local, Mr. Ken Hawkins, who now resides in Adelaide."
"The flag
was made by The Flag Centre, in Wayville, South Australia."
(Wayville is a
suburb of Adelaide, South Australia's state capital city)
The Centenary Logo
design appears on both sides of the "paper" flag, but the black text only on the
obverse side.
The Mayor then continued on to briefly mention a City
Council Flag, saying;
"The Broken Hill City Council does not have a flag,
although a crest used on official documents, as at the top of this
correspondence."
