According to the Thai Ministry of Interior in 2000, the flag of Khon Kaen 
province is red with a representation of the provincial seal in the middle of 
the flag, the name of the province in white on the upper part, and a white 
garuda on the golden rock (beneath the stupa) of the seal.

The 
seal of the province shows the stupa of Phra That Kham Kaen, which is believed 
to contain relics of Buddha. Two trees are depicted on both sides, one is a 
banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis), the other a Golden Shower Tree (Cassia 
fistula).
