Perth Yacht Club established 1865.
1882. P Y C in
white on blue burgee.
19 May 1890. Granted title ‘royal’. The club website
says that “at the same time it was announced that the Lords of the Admiralty had
granted the Club the Royal Warrant to fly an undefaced Blue ensign.” This may
have been a misunderstanding as on 13 March 1903 the Administrator at Government
House wrote to the Admiralty requesting a Blue Ensign for the Royal Perth Yacht
Club. A reply dated 24 March 1903 indicated that it was intended that a warrant
would be issued, and that individual applicants for warrants should apply
through the Club Secretary.

General meeting it was decided to replace the existing burgee with a white
burgee bearing a red St George’s cross with a crown in the upper canton.
