New flag for city of Seguin; Flag will include new city logo
Posted on 10/25/2017 7:26:00 AM.

(Seguin) -- The old, green city of Seguin flag with a picture of the Saffold Dam on it will soon be replaced. Seguin City Council members on last week agreed to a redesign of the new flag. It's really less of a redesign, and more of a commitment the city is making to its new logo and "It's Real" tag line. Seguin Public Information Officer Morgan Ash says the new logo will be replacing the flag's old design.

"We looked at several different options and felt that the Seguin It's Real logo, really popped on a simple white background. The reason why I'm bringing this up today, is that Jack who orders our city flags had mentioned that several of them were kind of deteriorating and would need to be replaced and that if we were interested in putting the new logo on a flag, that this would be a great opportunity to do so before they bought more of the old ones. As you can see this is a very rudimentary rendering of the flag on a flag pole, but the logo really kind of pops. That's kind of what it will look like. We really want to of course continue to put our brand, our new logo out into the community and hope you'll approve it," said Ash.

The council unanimously approved the design. The new flags are expected to be ordered soon. The city hired a consultant last year, who developed the logo and the tag line to better brand the city of Seguin, and what it represents to people both inside and outside the city.

Seguin is a city in Guadalupe County, Texas, in the United States. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 22,011. It is the county seat of Guadalupe County.

Seguin was founded in 1838 by members of Mathew Caldwell's Gonzales Rangers on land originally granted to Umphries (or Humphries) Branch by the Mexican government, but was not incorporated until 1853. Its original name was Walnut Springs but was changed just six months later to honor Juan Seguín. Seguin became a stopping point and trade center for German immigrants along their route from the ports of Indianola and Galveston to the German settlements of New Braunfels and Fredericksburg." - this and more on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seguin,_Texas.
