It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field, sometimes with blue embowed inscription.

Coat of arms

Shield Argent; a fess sable, charged with a stag salient Or, flanked by two towers of the same; six barrulets wavy Azure, three in chief and three in base. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals: "VILA DE CERVA".
Meaning:
Blue barrulets wavy as usual symbolising rivers, in this case Poio and Louredo, furthermore the riches of water, making the soil fertile. The black fess is representing the soil, furthermore hone firmness (of character) and honesty. The stag (Portuguese: cerva) is a canting element

Cerva Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Ribeira de Pena Municipality; it had 2280 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 46.1 km².

Coat of arms

Shield Vert, a granary Argent garnished Sable, in chief a bower Or bearing four lemons of the same, in base a triplet of three flowers Or tied Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals: "LIMÕES". Meaning: The lemons (Port.: limões) are canting elements. The granary is probably symbolising agriculture.
