Coat of Arms

[Flag of Sørreisa] image by Tomislav Šipek, 21 January 2016

Blazon: I rødt 3 seksoddete gull stjerner, to over en. In English. Gules three mullets or.
Approved by the royal resolution of 7 September 1984 after a drawing by Ottar Jarl Myrvang. [c2j87]
The design was inspired by the oldest seal preserved from Sorreisa, of the local politician Jacob Hansen Kinapel. His heptagonal 18th century seal shows his initials IHSK around three stars, an eightpointed in the centre over two six-pointed stars, as shown in [c2j87].
