Blazon: På sølv grunn blått skjoldhovud laga med breitt tannsnitt. In
English: Argent a chief dancetty azure.
Unlike the majority of the Norwegian municipal flag descriptions, that are
exactly the same as the matching coat of arms blazons, with the only difference
that the names for or (gull) and argent (sølv) are replaced with white
(hvit/kvit) and yellow (gul), the flag description here is: Delt av blått og
kvitt med med breitt tannsnitt i høvet 1:3. In English: Divided in blue and
white by a wide dancetty line in the
chief in [widths ratio of] 1:3.
(Note, this is the ratio of widths of stripes, and not to be mistaken with the
overall flag ratio.)
Approved by the royal resolution of 11 December 1987 after a drawing by Inge
Rotevatn. [c2j88] and

The site includes the explanation of canting arms in words of the formed major
(more or less) - the three points look like "naust"-s of "naust"-roofs and the
colours are for sky and sea. The word "naust" means a boathouse and the design
represents thus a row of boathouses on the coast, appropriately canting the
municipal name.
