Flag

Located in Morioka City Iwate Prefecture and established in 1949. The flag is green field charged with a white emblem in the center. The design of the "大學" (university) superimposed on a paulownia leaf and flower, which is also the flower of Iwate Prefecture, was selected first by a vote of all students, and the design was adopted in 1952. The design was conceived by Tokutaro Fujiwara, a professor in the Department of Special Art and Design, Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The university campus is surrounded by a variety of trees and has a rich natural landscape, and green was chosen as the university color to represent this.
