He served under Toyotomi Hideyoshi and was given 30,000 goku of Yokosuka in Toutomi province in 1595. After Hideyoshi's death, he served Tokugawa Ieyasu and participated in the Battle of Sekigahara and the Osaka Campaign on the Tokugawa side, and became the lord of Kurume Castle in Chikugo Province with 210,000 goku. The war banner was a white and black diagonally colored flag with a black family emblem on the upper white part. The family emblem is a design of the washer part of an old nail puller.
