Presentation of Tar-Vabriga

The municipality of Tar-Vabriga (Italian, Torre-Abrega; 1,506 inhabitants in 2001) was formed as a municipality in 2006 by separating from Poreč.
Historically, the two smaller towns of Tar (886 inh.) and Vabriga (392 inh.) grew together, forming a single settlement today divided by the main road, situated between the two larger historical towns of Poreč and Novigrad, at the estuary of river Mirna into the Adriatic Sea. It is said that from the top of the belfry of Tar when the weather is favourable one may spot the belfry of St. Mark church in Venice across the Adriatic. Today the main income is from tourism, especially a beautiful resort with a view on Novigrad and the estuary.

Flag of Tar-Vabriga

The flag of Tar-Vabriga is prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Tar-Vabriga-Torre-Abrega te načinu i zaštiti njihove uporabe, adopted on 31 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published the same day in the Municipality official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Tar-Vabriga-Torre-Abrega, No. 5.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company from Rijeka.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms is described as blue on a silver/white wall dexter a tree and sinister a silver/white tower and issuing from the chief dexter a golden/yellow sun.
Pseudo-heraldic emblems including the same symbols as the coat of arms were used prior to the adoption of the coat of arms, therefore all of them may be in turn based on some historical coat of arms or seal.
