Flag of Region Bretagne

The Regional Council adopted on 30 June 1997 the modern Breton flag, to be placed in the Council's session room, as the flag of Region Bretagne.

The current regional council's institutional flag is white with logo: photo (2025), photo (2022), photo (2017), photo.

In 2006, the previous graphical charter and the logo were modified, and the regional council's logo is now monochrome, the basic version being black and white, the colours of Brittany and of the Gwenn ha Du flag: see the graphical charter and the logotype.
According to this document, "The Gwenn-ha-du ("Black and White"), the flag of Brittany, is the element representing the territory. It is distinct from the Region’s logo, which represents the institution of the Brittany Regional Council."
"Square in shape, the logo frames an ermine—a powerful symbol of the region’s identity. The ermine evokes the geographical shape of Brittany, with its three points recalling the many islands dotting the Breton coastline. Its upward trajectory, reminiscent of a shooting star, suggests the dynamism of a region on the move. The graphic treatment, featuring clean, flowing curves, resembles a floral motif - a nod to the institution’s commitment to environmental preservation. The text "Région BRETAGNE" uses an alternating combination of the "Region Bretagne" typeface weights: Medium and Bold. The logo is available in a monochrome version using the colors from the palette. It also exists in Breton and Gallo versions" (Rannvro Breizh / Rejion Bertègn).

Previous flag of the Regional Council

The Regional Council Bretagne used previously a white flag with the Region's former version of the logo on the center. The flag, not really widespread, was seen in front of the regional council (photo, 2015; photo, 2010); it has been observed too for example in June 2010 in the commerce port of Roscoff.

The logo was adopted in September 2005 by the Regional Council.
The logotype is square, framing an ermine spot, a representative symbol allowing a quick identification to the territory. The shape of the ermine spot recalls the geographic shape of Brittany; the three points can also be seen as representing the several islands located off the Breton coasts. The ascending, dynamic movement of the ermine spot, recalling a shooting star, symbolizes a new impetus. Its graphical representation with refined curves can also be compared to a floral motif, highlighting the concern of the institution for environmental issues.
The background blue colour represents the sea (in Breton, armor) surrounding the land (argoat) represented by the ermine, whose green colour, warm and bright, also evokes vegetation. The colour specifications are:
- Blue: CMYK 100-70-0-30; Pantone 280; RGB 0-40-107; Web #00286B;
- Green: CMYK 40-0-100-0; Pantone 382; RGB 163-192-0; Web #A3C000.
"Région BRETAGNE" is written in the Spotka font, designed in 2003 by the young typograph Xavier Dupré. The shapes of the letters are derived from the letters painted on boats and shops in Brittany. Written in white letters, "Région Bretagne" forms a base boosting the ermine spot's take off. The word "Bretagne", placed on the edge of the square, represents openmindness.
The logo can be used in black and white, countercoloured on a dark background, monochromous (green background and white ermine spot and lettering); the writing can appear in Breton, as "Rannvro BREIZH".

The former flag of the Regional Council, created by the agency Énergie and officially adopted in 1988, roughly represents a map of Brittany, with the two blue stripes symbolizing the Channel (top) and the Atlantic Ocean (bottom).
