Symbols of Chauchina

The Municipality of Chauchina in the Province of Granada, that seems to be in parallel use. The earlier coat of arms was adopted 31.05.1989, but there is no information on flag except the image by Wikipedia user Erlenmeyer from 2025. The second set of symbols was adopted in 2024.

  • Second Coat of arms (2024):

Description: Per pale and enté en point. First, azure, a willow proper, on a terrace vert. Second, azure, a tower proper, on a terrace of the same. Enté en point, argent, three pomegranates or, seeded gules, stalked and left vert, placed fesswise; in base, waves azure and argent. Crest: a closed royal crown. Flanked by a ribbon gules with the inscription, on the dexter side, ROMILLA, and on the sinister side, ROMILLA LA NUEVA. Below the base, another ribbon gules with the inscription CHAUCHI NA.
Meaning: According to tradition, the willow trees give the town its name, and they were abundant in times past. The second quarter depicts the Nasrid-era Romilla Tower, which is preserved in the hamlet of the same name. The pomegranates recall its belonging to the Kingdom of Granada, and the waves allude to the Genil River, which flows through the municipality. The names that appear on the ribbons are those of the three villages that make up the municipality.
