  • Coat of arms:

Description: Divided diagonally. First, argent, a globe azure, charged with two clasping hands or and surmounted by a phoenix sable on flames gules. Second, gules, three pomegranates or, split gules and leaved with two leaves vert. Third, azure, the initial and cypher of Charles III or. Crest: the Spanish royal crown.
Meaning: According to the information in the file, the proposed coat of arms symbolically summarizes the history of this town. At the top is a globe with two clasped hands, crowned by a phoenix, which recalls the solidarity received by Arenas del Rey when it was devastated by the earthquake of 1884. All of this is superimposed on a silver field, representing the abundance of water in this land in contrast to the rest of Andalusia. In the center, on a red band, are three gold pomegranates symbolizing the historical past of Arenas del Rey: its belonging to the Kingdom of Granada, its establishment as an independent municipality by decree of King Charles III—to whom a third azure quarter is dedicated with his initial (CIII) superimposed—and its reconstruction after the earthquake of December 25, 1884.

  • Flag:

Description: Rectangular in the proportion 11 x 18, composed of three parallel stripes arranged diagonally and ascending towards the hoist, with a width proportion of 3.5 x 4 x 3.5. The first stripe is crimson, the middle one white, and the third the blue of the blazon. Centered and superimposed on the white stripe is the local coat of arms.
