Symbols of Lúcar

The flag and arms of Lúcar, adopted on 19 November 1992 by the Municipal Council and validated on 26 June 1992 by the Royal Academy of History, are prescribed by Decree No. 35, adopted on 30 March 1996 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 31 May 1993 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 58, p. 4,916 (text). This was confirmed by a Decree adopted on 30 November 2004 by the Government of Andalusia and published on 20 December 2004 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 246, pp. 28,986-29,002 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Panel in proportions 1:2, green with a yellow canton charged in the center with a black eagle of height 3/4 of the canton side.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Argent an eagle sable, 2. Or nine trees vert 3, 3 and 3. [Crown not mentioned].

The eagle represents the Aguilar branch of the Cordóba lineage, ruler of Lúcar since the Reconquest. The trees recall the origin of the place's name (locus), "a wood".
