Shield parted per pale; at dexter Or three chevrons Gules; at sinister Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The county historically belonged to the Palatine Electorate and to the Counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg. This is symbolised in the arms by the Palatine lion and the chevrons of the counts.
