It is a black-yellow vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is shifted to the top.

Südharz Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a bend sinister chequered of 17 squares of Argent and Gules, above right Or a stag passant Sable, beneath left Vert a barley ear Or, flanked by two oak leaves Or.
Meaning:
The stag is taken from the arms of the Princes of Stolberg, former rulers of most parts of the current municipality for centuries. The green colour is representing fauna, flora and the beautiful landscape. The oak leaves are symbolising forestal riches, the barley ear the fertile soil of the Goldene Aue region, meaning literally: golden meadow. The chequered bend here is not referring to the Cistercians. It is symbolising the diversity of the different villages of Südharz. The colours red and white are the predominant colours of the county arms of Mansfeld-Südharz.
