The municipality of Saint-Simon-de-Rimouski is located between Rivière-du-Loup
and Rimouski.
Saint-Simon was first settled in 1796 by Régis Jean, from
Saint-Jean-Port-Joli; he was joined a few years later by other colonists coming
from Trois-Pistoles.
The parish of Saint-Simon-de la-Baie Ha! Ha! was erected
canonically in 1826 and civically in 1835. It was name for Apostle St. Simon and
also for the nickname of the feudal domain of Baie Ha! Ha!, Nicolas-Rioux / Riou,
coined for Nicolas Rioux, lord of Trois-Pistoles in 1751. Founded in 1845, the
parish municipality of Saint-Simon-de la-Baie Ha! Ha! was abolished in 1847 and
merged with other entities to form the county municipality of Rimouski, Division
No. 1. The post-office inaugurated in 1848 was named Saint-Simon-de-Rimouski.
Created in 1855, the parish municipality of Saint-Simon was split in tow parts
the years later to form the new parish municipality of Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux.
In 2020, the parish municipality of Saint-Simon was transformed into the
municipality of Saint-Simon-de-Rimouski.

Flag is the municipal arms on white, with a green/gold inner border around
the edges.
The arms are "Vert a cross or charged in the center with a chapel
azure cantonned in chief by a fleur-de-lis argent in base sinister by a maple
leaf gules.
Vert (green) recalls that Saint-Simon i a green parish. The
chief represents the hills up the the 2nd rang, while the base represents the
northern hills, up to the sea.
The cross or represents faith and the heritage
of labor, love and Christian life left by the ancestors. It also symbolizes
harvests of wheat and other grain matured under the sun and that are grown up
the the 22nd rang, and also wood extracted from the hills' steep sides.
The
fleur-de-lis evokes the French origin, while the maple leaf evokes Canada and
the parish syrup maple orchards.
The chapel represents Saint-Simon's first
chapel.
The French motto reads "Always Faithful".
