Ivan Sache, 5 February 2022 The municipality of Moreira Sales (12,709 inhabitants in 2015; 35,389 ha) is
located 530 km north-west of Curitiba.
Moreira Sales was established in
1950 by João Moreira Salles, a merchant who founded Unibanco, who commissioned
Eurydes Romano, Joaquim Caetano de Lima, Benedito Mendes Ribeiro, Angelo Lisi,
Hélio Moreira Salles and José Carlos Moreira Salles to explore and settle his
vast domain. Urban planning was designed by Hélio Bittencourt. João Moreira
Salles eventually visited the place in 1953.
The district of Moreira Sales
was established by State Law No. 1,542 promulgated on 14 December 1953, to be
elevated a municipality by State Law No. 4,245 promulgated on 25 July 1960,
separating from Campo Mourão and Goioerę. The municipality was inaugurated on 30
November 1961.

The flag of
Moreira Sales is horizontally divided white-red-white, charged in the center
with the municipal coat of arms inscribed on a yellow disc.
